This intensive four-day workshop brings together the essential components of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in one comprehensive, practice-focused training programme. Designed for busy professionals and learners who want to develop CBT competencies efficiently, it combines theoretical foundations, case conceptualisation and formulation, behavioural interventions, cognitive interventions, and the application of CBT to anxiety and depression.

CBT is a structured, short-term and present-focused psychotherapy that helps clients understand and change unhelpful relationships between their thoughts, emotions, physical responses and behaviours. It has a substantial research base and is widely used to support clients experiencing depression, anxiety disorders and other psychological concerns.

Across the four days, learners will receive step-by-step instruction and guided practice in:

  • understanding core CBT theories, principles and frameworks
  • developing CBT case conceptualisations and formulations
  • selecting and applying behavioural intervention strategies
  • identifying and working with unhelpful thoughts and beliefs
  • applying CBT strategies when supporting anxiety and depression
  • integrating CBT techniques safely, ethically and appropriately into practice

The workshop is suitable for individuals who want to practise CBT but have not received formal CBT training. This includes aspiring CBT Psychotherapists, Counselling Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, ICF-certified coaches and Associate Psychologists who meet the workshop entry requirements.

Upon completion of the workshop, learners will be equipped with the essential knowledge and applied competencies required to begin practising as a CBT Psychotherapist or to integrate CBT techniques into their existing professional practice.

Workshop Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet any one of the following criteria:

  • successfully completed CBT Masterclass Level 1: Essential Skills in Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • hold an active coaching credential with the International Coaching Federation (ICF)
  • be a Registered Counsellor with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC)
  • be a Registered Psychologist listed on the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP)
  • be a Social Worker accredited through the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW) accreditation system

No prior formal training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is required. Applicants who meet one of the recognised professional pathways may apply directly to Level 2 without completing Level 1.

All applicants will be invited for an interview before their enrolment is confirmed. The interview will help determine their suitability and readiness for this intensive, practice-focused CBT workshop.

Workshop Content

This four-day workshop integrates the theory and practical application of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) across the following areas:

CBT Behavioural Theories and Interventions
Learners will explore behavioural learning principles and how behavioural patterns may contribute to the development and maintenance of psychological difficulties. They will practise selecting and facilitating behavioural strategies that support meaningful and measurable change.

CBT Cognitive Theories and Interventions
Learners will understand how thoughts, assumptions and beliefs can influence emotions and behaviours. They will practise identifying unhelpful cognitions and using structured cognitive techniques to help clients develop more balanced and useful perspectives.

CBT Case Conceptualisation and Formulation
Learners will develop the skills required to organise information gathered during assessment into a coherent CBT case conceptualisation and formulation. They will learn how formulations explain the factors contributing to and maintaining a client’s difficulties and guide the selection of appropriate interventions.

CBT for Anxiety and Depression
Learners will understand how CBT case conceptualisation, formulation and intervention strategies can be adapted when supporting clients experiencing anxiety and depression. Learning will be reinforced through case examples, demonstrations and simulated practice.

By the end of the workshop, learners will be equipped with the core competencies required to develop CBT case conceptualisations and formulations and apply appropriate behavioural and cognitive strategies in counselling and psychotherapy practice.

Certificate

Upon completion of all four workshop days, learners will receive:

  • Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

The certificate is issued by The Lion Mind and recognises completion of a four-day, practice-focused training programme covering CBT theory, case conceptualisation and formulation, behavioural and cognitive interventions, and the application of CBT to anxiety and depression.
